LEH-MANALI HIGHWAY

9-Days / 8-Nights Adventure

Day 1

Arrival at Manali. Rest in Manali. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 4

Sham Valley. Visit Alchi Monastery, Sangam (the confluence of the Indus and Zanskar Rivers), Magnetic Hill, and Hall of Fame in Leh.

Day 7

Pangong to Hanle. After breakfast, drive to Hanle, which will take about 7 to 8 hours. Visit Chushul, a village near the Indian LAC with China in the eastern region near Pangong Lake and the Rezang La war memorial. Hanle is a large historic village in Ladakh with a 17th-century Buddhist monastery of the Drukpa Kagyu branch of Tibetan Buddhism. Hanle is also known for its astronomical observatory, one of the highest in the world. Overnight at a guest house.

Day 2

Manali – Keylong – Jispa. After breakfast, ride straight to Jispa. En route, visit Rohtang Pass and Keylong. Spend some time at Rohtang Pass enjoying the panoramic beauty of the Manali valley. Continue to Lahaul valley, which is quite rocky and barren, and reach Keylong. Visit Keylong village to observe the simple lifestyle of the villagers and the Kardang Monastery. Afterward, resume ride to Jispa to spot amazing scenery and panoramic views. Upon arrival in Jispa, check in at the hotel. Overnight stay in Jispa.

Day 5

Leh to Nubra Valley. After breakfast, drive 137 km to Nubra. Cross Khardung La Pass, at 5605 m, one of the highest motorable roads in the world. At the summit, enjoy the view of the Karakoram and Stok Mountain ranges. Khardung La Pass is 39 km from Leh; before the pass, there is a police check post (North Pullu) where you must show your passport and inner line permit. After the pass, another check post called South Pullu is encountered. In Khardong village, have lunch and drive to Diskit or Hunder village. If time permits, visit the sand dunes and enjoy a camel ride. Overnight in a hotel or camp.

Day 8

Hanle to Leh. After breakfast, drive back to Leh via Chumathang, covering 255 km in about 8 to 9 hours. Overnight at Leh.

Day 3

Jispa to Leh. After breakfast, depart from Jispa to Leh. Take a break for a meal at Sarchu. Drive to Leh via Taglang La Pass. Leh is situated at an altitude of 3400 meters above sea level. Along the way, you may see nomadic people with herds of sheep and Pashmina goats. Overnight in a hotel in Leh.

Day 6

Nubra to Pangong. In the morning, visit Diskit Monastery and the large Maitreya Buddha statue. From there, enjoy a panoramic view of the entire Nubra Valley and the confluence of the Shyok River. Head towards Pangong via Shyok. Arrive at Pangong, the highest saltwater lake in the world, shared by India and China. Overnight at Pangong.

Day 9

Departure. You will be transferred to the airport.
